Why I Write and How it Makes Me Feel?

I became a Writer because I love telling stories about my family, friends, pets, vacation spots, and dreams I’ve had. Writing gives me a place where I can express myself and allow my experiences, emotions, and people at that point in time and space become a story to tell. In the past, writing helped me to heal from my parents’ divorce, the loss of my three pets Beth, Bailey and Gracie, peer pressure, and bullying. As of now, I want to share my stories of toxic relationships, friendships, and being told that my passion for writing is not a true passion to help others know that you’re not alone dealing with toxic love and friends and to keep striving for what you’re passionate about. Why I write is because I have stories within me that I want to share with the world to make an impact on other people’s lives.

From the early age of eight, my mother handed me my first journal to write in to write down my feelings, emotions, and experiences for the day to let go of the bad and to also record the good to keep as memories. During the time she handed me my first journal, her and my dad had been divorced for two years. From the age of eight, I used a journal to write down my experiences and cope and heal from the divorce of my parents.

Also, writing makes me feel at peace, calm, and happy. When I write down my bad feelings, it helps me to release damaged emotions. I feel a sense of calmness once I write down what I had been through for the day, week, month, and year to move on to the next season of life. Writing makes me happy because I can escape into another world and forget about reality. Writing makes me feel peaceful, calm, and happy for these reasons.

Writing has allowed me to become creative. By writing, it has helped me to think outside of the box. I am able to put different images and words together that come into my head onto paper. It is so important for others to think outside of the box because it helps you to be creative. It helped me to be creative by using Lenny the Lizard to spread kindness to others through his green scarf in my book Lenny the Lizard and His Green Scarf. I used the color green for his scarf to express positivity and harmony among others. In my other book A Colorful Balloon Ride where I used objects at the County Fair to teach children their colors by using the rainbow helps children to understand the order of colors and learn colors. Writing has allowed me to be creative through my children’s stories to teach children new concepts.

Then, my mother being a school teacher greatly influenced my passion for writing children’s books because she would bring stories to life in her daycare center and in the public elementary school classrooms. She would act out the characters in the book, engage, and asking questions about each book to help students understand content. Also, she would dress up sometimes to play out the main character, and use toys that came along with the books to bring the characters to life.

Writing makes me happy because I can escape into another world and be somebody else. I can picture myself being in a scene and place when I am writing about how Alli moves on from her toxic relationship with Nick and has a good man in her life now named Greg Douglas that treats her like a lady. In my latest book I am working on called Sarah’s Story, I can picture myself being on the basketball court with Sarah Crossroads and her teammate and making shots and passes to win the high school’s basketball game and further advance herself with her basketball career. I love creating different personalities, places, and things because it gives me a new world to explore.

I feel at peace when I write down love relationships that didn’t work out, death, being bullied, peer pressure, my struggles with weight, and social anxiety so I can put those situations into perspective and see them in a new and positive light. I used these situations in my books called Girl Rise and Cracking the Happy Weight Code. I can turn the negative situations into a positive by realizing that when one door closes another open, bullies can be facing hurt at home and in their personal lives and might not understand how to cope and deal with their issues, and feeling anxious won’t allow me to build new friendships.

Lastly, why I write is because I have stories that I want to share with the world to make an impact in other people’s lives. Writing makes me feel at peace because it allows me to release damaged emotions and experiences. I enjoy making characters come to life and seeing them make the best of their lives. I write because I have stories within me that I want to change people’s lives with and writing gives me a time and space to escape to.
